I'm sure I can help your friends with advise on drying out hay,
some chicken wire on a light frame ( improves drying time due to the
time of year, July you can dry out on the ground) scattering a layer
of whatever you want to dry on top, this will allow the hay to dry on
both sides at once, but still advisable to turn over after one day.
Dry to a pale green with the hay slightly soft rather than brittle,
this is successful with grasses and leaves such as dandelion
etc.needs to be dry enough not to form fungus, store in an airy place
but not damp.
